State Bank of Pakistan Merit Scholarships for Post-Graduate Students

State Bank of Pakistan Banking Services Corporation offers financial assistance by way of Merit Scholarship to the talented and meritorious children of its serving/retired/deceased employees (OG-2 and Below) to pursue their studies at Intermediate, Graduate and Post Graduate levels. Merit Scholarships for the 2016-2017 are now open and Applications on the prescribed Form are invited from the Employees (serving/retired) and spouse/children of deceased employees of SBP BSC(Bank) for grant of "Merit Scholarships" to their children.

USAID-funded Merit and Needs-Based Graduate Scholarship Program

The Higher Education Commission in partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) offers scholarships for financially disadvantaged students to study agriculture and business administration programs since 2004. The program is consistent with the HEC’s goals to support financially deserving students, widen access to quality education, and encourage academic interest in fields that are vital to Pakistan’s economic development.

The Pak-USAID Merit and Need-Based Scholarship Program Phase-II is focused on providing opportunities for access to higher education, especially to under-privileged candidates who, despite possessing academic merit, are unable to finance their education. The scholarship covers tuition, accommodation and living expenses.

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved the program at a total cost of Rs. 2,954.808 million in its meeting held on 6th September 2013. The Project is funded by Government of United States of America as Grant in Aid.

Phase-I of the program was initiated in 2004 at eleven (11) universities with 1807 scholarships. Of all recipients, 94% graduated on time.

To enable the academically qualified and financially needy Pakistani students to pursue higher education at select private and public universities of Pakistan in the fields of agriculture, medicine, business, social science, and engineering.

To enhance the institutional capacity of the Higher Education Commission of the Government of Pakistan and local public and private sector universities in designing and implementing MNBSP Phase II.

Prime Minister’s Fee Reimbursement Scheme

The Scheme was approved in June 2012 by the Government and was initially designed to reimburse tuition fees and on and off mandatory charges for the students of Balochistan, FATA and Gilgit Baltistan. In 2013, it has been made an integral part of Prime Minister's Youth Program. The scope of the Program has been increased since then and now 114 districts of Pakistan are eligible under the Scheme.

1. Actual Tuition Fee (of Masters , MS/MPhil and PhD programs)
2. On and Off Mandatory charges which includes Registration Fee/Enrollment Fee, Admission fee (For new admissions only), Examination Fee, Library charges(non-refundable), Laboratory charges, Research related academic activities only.
3. Non study related heads like transport fee, hostel fee, Sports fee, Endowment Fund, Equipment Fee, Health Fee or Any Refundable dues will not be paid.

OGDCL Need Based Scholarships for Masters Program through HEC

Higher Education Commission in partnership with Oil & Gas Development Company limited (OGDCL) offers scholarships for destitute students to study undergraduate and graduate courses in Engineering, Business administration, Law, Archaeology, Defense and Strategic studies, Gender studies, History, Sociology, Animal Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Electronics, Physics, Math, IT, and Pak Studies. The program is consistent with the HEC’s goals to support financially deserving students, widen access to quality education, and encourage academic interest in fields that are vital to Pakistan’s Economic Development. The program has specially been designed to benefit the students belonging from OGDCL’s operational/concessional districts List of Partner Universities/institutions

The OGDCL-HEC Need-Based Scholarship Program is focused on providing opportunities for access to higher education, especially to destitute candidates belonging to underprivileged background from operational & concessional areas of OGDCL who, despite possessing academic merit, are unable to finance their education. The scholarship covers tuition fee, lodging and boarding.
The OGDCL management has approved the program at a total cost of Rs.141 million in its meeting held on 21st December 2016. The Project is funded by Oil and Gas Development Company limited as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.
In first year of the program, total number of students as beneficiaries are 130.

To enable the academically qualified and financially needy students of operational & concessional areas of OGDCL to pursue higher education at selected public sectors universities of Pakistan in the fields of Engineering, Business administration, Law, Archaeology, Defense and Strategic studies, Gender studies, History, Sociology, Animal Sciences, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Electronics, Physics, Math, IT, and Pak Studies. Offered discipline among proposed disciplines may vary in each semester as per OGDCL management decision.

Indigenous Ph.D. Fellowship Program

The specific objective of the 5000 Indigenous Scholarship Scheme is to create a critical mass of highly qualified human resources in all fields of studies taught at the advanced level in local universities. These locally qualified academics and researchers will improve the R&D potential of public as well as private universities and it will also strengthen the local industrial sector.

With the launching of the scheme, research culture in public/private sector Universities has been developed in accordance with International norms/standards. This project is focused at diversified disciplines belonging to all fields of Science & Technology as well as Social Sciences, Humanities and Life Sciences. To enhance the research facilities in these fields the Higher Education Commission has funded many Departments/Universities to establish research labs. This has brought tremendous change in research culture of the Pakistani Universities.

HEC has kept great emphasis on indigenous scholarship schemes because locally trained researchers work on local problems of great national significance. Their research, therefore, is expected to have direct relevance to the growth and socio-economic development of Pakistan.

In addition, this scheme also provides funds to the Universities for upgrading their research facilities particularly small laboratory equipment, chemicals, IT equipment etc. which not only facilitates research of the HEC scholar but also serves as an asset for the department to establish up to date research laboratories.

OGDCL Need Based Scholarship Program for Masters in QAU Through HEC

OGDCL will provide educational support to the students of selected HEC recognized universities/institutions to enable them to cover the tuition fee costs and other necessary expenditures for complete 4 years undergraduate Engineering degree.

In case of progressive results at the end of first year OGDCL may introduce second batch with the lesser/equal/increase numbers of scholarships in various discipline subject to OGDCL CSR Council's approval, availability of funds and OGDCL CSR Policy.

Gwadar-China Scholarship Program

Higher Education Commission of Pakistan on the behalf of Government of Pakistan announce The Indigenous Scholarship Program for the students of Gwadar. As per Government of Pakistan's resolve to benefit the natives of Gwadar. The Core objective is to produce Skilled, educated and well trained motivated youth of Gwadar to grab the emerging job opportunities through China Pakistan Economic Corridor. To uplift the Baluchi Youth and Gwadar in particular, having undergraduate qualifications they have been offered 4 years BS program/equivalent to MA/MSc at top universities of Punjab and moreover the youth having 14 years or equivalent educational qualification will be provided within an international scholarship opportunity to learn Chinese language at top native Chinese language learning institutes or universities in Chinese Native environment. It will help them to avail jobs opportunities in the CPEC and adjacent projects by learning the prevailing Chinese language; the major mode of communications.

Indigenous Scholarship Aghaz-e-Haqooq-e-Balochistan Project

The Indigenous Scholarship programme is focused to enhance the research culture in local universities/research institutes. Higher Education Commission facilitates indigenous scholars with research facilities to explore solutions to local problems and contribute to national cause. Under this scholarship programme, 400 Indigenous Scholarships are being offered to local domicile holders of Balochistan, on district quota basis. These qualified researchers will improve the R&D potential of provincial universities/research institutes and will help strengthen the local industrial sector.

HEC German Needs Based Scholarship Program For Masters

​​The program was started back in 2013 with the help of German Government to extend helping hand to the destitute students of selected Pakistani Universities. The Preference was given to the students from FATA/ Baluchistan with an especial emphases to select more female students. Phase-I is completed and plans are underway for phase-II which will be announced once approved.
